My wife did not perform Tawaf-ul-Wada`

Q: We are from the town of Hidda' which is 25 kilometers away from Makkah Al-Mukarramah. When performing Hajj, should we perform Tawaf-ul-Wada` (circumambulation of the Ka`bah on leaving Makkah), bearing in mind that the majority of us are employees and work in Makkah Al-Mukarramah and that some of us come to Makkah most of the time? We hope that Your Eminence will give us a Fatwa. May Allah bless your knowledge, make others benefit through you, and safeguard and protect you. .

A: Tawaf-ul-Wada` is obligatory for each pilgrim who wants to go from Makkah to Hidda' or to any other place after performing Hajj. That is because the Prophet (peace be upon him) said: No one should leave until the last thing he has done is to circumambulate Al-Bayt (the House: another name for the Ka`bah). This Hadith is general in meaning.May Allah grant us success. May peace and blessings be upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and Companions.
